Yesterday, Intel officially released it’s first “Centrino” equipped laptops to the market. The new chip is touted as being more energy efficient and integrates WIFI capability directly into the unit. While significantly slower, from a clock speed perspective, than its Pentium counterparts (mobile max. 1.6 Gig. versus 2.4 Gig.), the Centrino chip is said to be as much as 13% – 15% faster than the fastest Pentium 4 mobile chips, on multi-tasking applications, and Internet usage, because of its more efficient design.
